Poesias // Poems

Adormece no mar e surge a Lua,

Filho esquivo da noite que flutua,

Tu só entendes bem o meu tormento...

Como um canto longínquo - triste e lento-

Que voga e sutilmente se insinua,

Sobre o meu coração que tumultua,

Tu vestes pouco a pouco o esquecimento...

No one is more unhappy than the one... (2022)

No one is more unhappy than the one for whom nothing is more miserable than getting out of bed.

And Weeping, I Danced to Bach and the Bee Gees (2022)

And weeping, I danced to the music of Bach and the Bee Gees.

When the lights go out and I am alone (November 10, 2025)

When the lights go out and I am alone, I ask myself: what lies behind every mask? What am I to do with my torments?

Why not clothe myself, little by little, in oblivion?

To let a weary body and a tired heart find rest... the oblivion of a nameless sorrow.

There is no god to uphold me...

Only you, Spirit of the Night, can understand me tonight.

It is what I learned from Antero de Quental, who writes in Nocturne:

Spirit who passes by when the wind

Falls asleep upon the sea and the moon ascends,

Elusive child of the floating night,

You alone truly understand my torment...

Like a distant song—sad and slow—

Drifting, quietly making its way,

Over my restless heart,

You clothe it, little by little, in oblivion...

To you I entrust the dream that carries me away,

A longing for light breaking through the darkness,

Seeking, amid visions, the Eternal Good.

And you understand my nameless sorrow,

The fever of the Ideal that consumes me—

You alone, Spirit of the Night, and no one else.
